Caroline Wilkins

Geboren 1953 in England, 1971 - 1975 Studium am Royal College of Music, London, bei Jeremy Dale-Roberts. 1982 Gastdozentin an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik Sydney, Australien, in Klavierimprovisation und Komposition Neues Musiktheater; 1984 - 1986 als Komponistin und ausführende Künstlerin Mitarbeit an zahlreichen Projekten des Neuen Musiktheaters in Sydney und Canberra. 1987 Stipendium des Australia Council für ein Kompositionsstudium bei Mauricio Kagel in Köln. 1992 Stipendiatin an der Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart.
1. Preis des Kompositionswettbewerbs des FrauenMusikForums Schweiz FMF. 1995 Stipendium am Künstlerhof Schreyahn, Niedersachsen.
1997 Landesstipendium Rheinland Pfalz am Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf, Brandenburg. 1998 Ausstellung von Kompositionsskizzen am Von-der-Heydt-Museum, Wuppertal. Als Komponistin und Ausführende beim Interdisziplinären Symposium Die Höge, Bremen. 1999 Stipendium der Stiftung Kulturfonds Berlin am Künstlerhaus Lukas, Ahrenshoop. Zahlreiche Aufführungen und Rundfunksendungen weltweit; Nominierungen zu den IGNM Weltmusiktagen Oslo 1990, Kopenhagen 1996, Seoul 1997, Bukarest 1999, Luxembourg 2000. Preisträgerin des Queens´ International Kompositionswettbewerbs, Cambridge 2000. Karl-Sczuka-Preis des SWR 2000 für die Radiokomposition "Mecanica Natura". Lebt in Wuppertal.

Born in England in 1953, studied piano and composition at the Royal College of Music (1971 - 1975) with Jeremy Dale-Roberts. From 1982 -1987 she worked in Sydney as guest lecturer in piano improvistion and new music theatre composition at the Sydney Conservatorium, and as composer and performer in various music theatre projects. In 1987 she was awarded an Australia Council grant to study with Mauricio Kagel in Cologne. Since 1987 her music has received performances and broadcasts worldwide, been successful in several composition competitions, and sponsored for performance in numerous festivals. Karl Sczuka Prize of SWR 2000 for the radio composition "Mecanica Natura". Lives in Wuppertal, Germany.
